Resources for Personal Worship

One aspect of these days is that our public worship services have, for necessary and prudent reasons, been cancelled. However, it is also a time when our need to remain spiritually strong is critical. These are some resources to support personal and family worship as we isolate ourselves during these days.

Suggested themes for Prayer

Among the many topics of prayer we have selected some themes that seem to suit our present needs. In a time such as this our thoughts tend to focus on ourselves rather than on God. And so you are encouraged to offer prayers of praise and thanksgiving to God as well as petitions related to your needs and the needs of the world.
Matters about which you ought to pray.
Pray for your own peace of mind and that your trust in God's care will remain firm.
Pray for those who are providing leadership in the Christian Church.
Pray for those experiencing sorrow, fear, and anxiety that they may find peace.
Pray for those who have lost their jobs and their incomes and feel anxious.
Pray for those caring for the poor and homeless.
Pray for those providing care for the aged and infirm.
Pray for those with essential jobs in constant contact with others.
Pray for those providing emergency services in our community.
Pray for doctors and nurses and all providing health care.
Pray for those in government and health care whose decisions will impact millions.

Hymns for Worship

Wile most of us probably don't sing hymns in our private devotions, familiar hymns may provide a strong spiritual incentive for us. Played softly, they serve as a good accompaniment for the reading of scripture or during prayer or for a time when we are simply quietly reflecting on oour faith. The hymns provided here are predominantly instrumental rather than vocal. They are all familiar selections.
How Sweet the Name  (Piano)     How Sweet the Name    (Worship Band)
Take Time to be Holy    (Instrumental)
Tell me the Old, Old Story    (Band)
Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus    (Band)
The Lord's My Shepherd    (Piano)
For additional extended selections of music for worship and meditation we invite you to select Music for Reflection.

Brief Devotional Messages

We suggest that you go to For These Days and pick a topic that seems to fit your needs. Also, of course, this website offers the audio of all the sermons that Dr. Bernhardt delivered in Alberton Church in the months prior to Covid-19. To access this material visit our Audio Archives.
